13 days of Insane Courage - Day 7

Day Seven – Money

Insane Courage controls it money rather than money controlling it.

Money money money money, MONEY
Money money money money, MONEY
Money money money money, MONEY
Money money money money, MONEY
Money money money money, MONEY
Money money money money, MONEY

Some people got to have it
Hey, Hey, Hey - some people really need it

Hey, listen to me, y'all do thangs, do thangs, do thangs - bad thangs with it
Well, you wanna do thangs, do thangs, do thangs - good thangs with it - yeah

Un Huh, talkin' bout cash money, money

Talkin' bout cash money - dollar bills y'all - come on, now

For the love of money
People will steal from their mother

For the love of money
People will rob their own brother

For the love of money
People can't even walk the streets
Because they'll never know who in the world they're gonna beat
For that mean, oh mean, mean green

Almighty Dollar!
(O’Jay’s –“For the Love of Money”)

Greed, lack, poverty, and plenty are all words that money brings to mind.  Some believe there is plenty to go around and others say there isn’t enough.  Some even go as far as “Robin Hood” and take from the rich to give to the poor.  Many believe money is what makes the world go around.  Money – Money – Money.  You will either control it or it will control you.

The simple song referenced above by the O’Jays delivers a profound and accurate account of money and its ability to control.  It is such a small thing but if given the right environment and situation it can cause more casualty than the atomic bomb.  The love of money has broken up homes, caused nations to go to war, seared the conscious of man to sell their women, influenced mothers to sell their daughters and allowed the unjust to walk away from a crime without any penalty.

Insane Courage to control your money rather than your money controlling you is going to take a conscious act of the will and a strategy to overcome its power over you life.  First you must assess your own attitude toward money.  Who or what is in control?  When you have money or the potential to get money do you feel better than others?  Are you prideful because you have a few more toys than others?  Do you judge your self -worth by how much money you have? If you buy someone less fortunate than yourself something, do you feel they owe you their allegiance?  If you answered yes to any of the above questions, money is in control.

When you do not have money do you feel forsaken by God? Does the lack of money cause you stress and anxiety? If when you are low on funds will you hide from the ones close to you because you don’t feel good if one of them pay for something for you? Are you so full of pride that if you really need something you will not ask because people may talk about you?  If you answered yes to any of the above questions, money is in control.

Insane Courage takes control of its money by using these simple strategies. First, a person with Insane Courage will practice giving.  Giving lets money know you do not value it more than its God-given purpose of service to you and to others.  Giving allow money to fulfill its purpose of being a re-source that The Source (God) intended.  Second, a person with Insane Courage has a vision for his money.  This person does not allow the subtle enticements of this world to deter them from their “best” life purpose.  Buying without a plan is like taking your money and throwing it in the wind.  You should even have a plan when you go to the grocery store.  Vision allows you to plan as well as evaluate when money is not serving you best.  Third, a person with Insane Courage knows when enough is enough.  They set limits on money and are willing to stand by the limits set.  Finally, a person with Insane Courage passes down good money management skills to their children.  They have determined the mistakes they made with money, the time they allowed money to control them stops now.  They equip their children and all who follow them with strategies to control their own money.

When money controls you it controls your attitude, actions, reactions, social group and most things you are attached to.  Just as when you control money you are now in control of your attitude, actions, reactions, social groups and much much more.

Insane Courage controls its money rather than its money controlling it.
