13 days of Insane Courage - Day 4

Day Four – Enjoy Peace

Insane Courage is to have peace in extreme adversity

How do you have Peace when the doctor says 3 months
How do you have Peace when your spouse says no more
How do you have Peace in the jail of lack and poverty
How tell me how do you have Peace – I need to know how

You have Peace when you have the Courage to enjoy every moment of each month
You have Peace when you have the Courage to give your heart to God to restore
You have Peace when you have the Courage to do what it takes to have plenty
How do you have Peace  - It takes Courage – Insane Courage to know how

One thing I look forward to each evening is watching the local news on television.  I endure  listening to all the tragedies that have occurred during the day and sometimes they will throw in a feel good story to add a little balance.  What I am really interested in is the weather report.  Finally the meteorologist comes on and gives the forecast for the coming week.  He initially reports on what already happened in weather for the day and explains how it all works together for the coming days.  After watching the report he gives with some sense of confidence I plan my attire and activities for the next day.
Wouldn’t it be good if at the end of each day someone stands before us and replays all we have done during the day and how our decisions and actions today will forecast how the next seven days will transpire?  They could tell us when the next extreme adversity will come our way.  Maybe the car wreck that would change our lives would be in the forecast for next Thursday or the unexpected relative needing to move in with us until they get on their feet will show up on Sunday.
Extreme adversity is a part of each life at one time or another.  Our “best” life purpose will afford us many opportunities to experience extreme adversities.  Having peace in the midst of adversity will take Insane Courage.
Insane Courage is the ability to admit there is extreme adversity in my life while choosing to embrace peace.  Not false peace that denies there is adversity but real peace.  To embrace peace is to keep the right attitude while waiting on the solution.  It is to see past the immediate extreme adversity and to work toward the solution.  Real peace searches out what resources are already available to calm the storm of life and uses wisdom when using the resources.

  1. Adversity is something that we all have to deal with, old or young black or white. I have always felt that as you get older you should get better at dealing with situations. But if that were true I wouldn't be dealing with the same situations. Facing adversity is to stop listening to fear. stop and remember God has it under control and the situation was already designed to help you.
