13 days of Insane Courage - Day 5

Day Five – Re-Evaluate Relationships

Insane Courage studies which relationships are still working for the glory of God and which are not.

No man is an island; entire of itself we are all connected to each other and our creator.  Human beings do not thrive when isolated from others.  We need the consistent warmth of healthy relationships.  Sometimes our need for human connection causes us to become involved in unhealthy relationships.

The definitions for relationship include the words connected, related, involvement, or association.  The Bible values relationships in that it tells us to “forsake not the assembly of ourselves together.”  We need healthy growing connections to survive.

Insane Courage is the senseless confidence to act in accordance with your belief about your “best” life purpose.  In order to transition from where are you now to where you know your “best” life purpose can be fulfilled you must honestly study all your present relationships and figure out if they are still working for the glory of God.  These relationships include personal, financial, emotional, spiritual and mental involvements.  Everything you are connected to must be re-evaluated.  If you are in school ask yourself if the relationship you have with the school still working.  You even have to re-evaluate where you buy groceries, where you shop for stuff even your cell phone contract.

Just because you have been in a relationship for an extended amount of time does not mean it is healthy.  Evaluate whether the relationship has become a burden or is it still a blessing.  Ask yourself this question, “Why am I still in this relationship?”  If your honest answer is because it is comfortable and I don’t feel confident to explore my options, then you are committing a gross disservice to yourself.

Insane Courage causes you to honestly re-evaluate each relationship on its own merits and judge whether you should maintain it or remove yourself from it.

Here are four criteria to consider when re-evaluating relationships to understand if they are working for the glory of God.
          1) Is it healthy?
          2) Does it bring growth in your life?
          3) Does it still bring you pleasure?
          4) Does it challenge you?
